I have a 2001 GMC Sierra short bed with the 8.1 and Allison. Which is the best Flowmaster that is not to loud?Has anyone usedd the 530504 ???

The 70 series mufflers are the quietest.  With the 40 series being the loudest.  The 50 series is closer to the sound of the 40 series than it is to the 70 series.

 

Is the part number you quoted for the "big Block" series?

It is said to be for the 6.0 and 8.1. I can't find it on the FM web site but a few places sell it. I use my truck mostly for pulling my 31ft. Prowler, so I don't want anything loud.

I had to call FM to get the the part number for the 70 series on my 02, it is nice and quiet, now my friends 50 series on his 2500HD 6.0 is loud but sounds great. Give FM a call and then call up Summit or Jegs they are same on price and usually have them in stock.

go to  the bottom of the page.  It has a kit #, muffler #, and sound clip for the 2500hd 6.0L.  The clip sounds exactly like my truck.

For what it is worth, I installed Gibson headers and cat back exhaust system. Very happy with the sound, does not blow you out of the cab. Easy to install.

Sorry been out a while.  I used the big block 70 series II muffler from Flowmaster. It is a quiet one I will say that. I like it. You can still enjoy the sound, just that it isn't real loud but is that distinct flowmaster sound. :thumb:
