How do you take off the Speaker screen???

Do you have to take the door panel off to take the speaker screen out? I was thinking about painting the black..in tan truck..what do yall think?? Will it look good? ???

Yep pull the door panel. Once off you will see where to un-bend some grill tabs to remove the grill. Another option is to cover the metal grill with black grill cloth and reinstall.

Only reason I took mine off is to install some Polk tweeters in custom mounts. Leaving it stock looking. Ya' know stealth like.

I agree with the grill cloth over paint, but it will eventualy faid and need to be replaced. I switched both mid/woofer and tweeter as well as crossover, and even using the stock stereo the fidelity was greatly increased.

I'm sorry my post was slightly misleading. I installed Polk 6 1/2 co-ax for the stock mid, and changed the stock tweeter for a Polk with the cross over. The custom mount I refered to allowed me to keep the stock tweeters intact.

I used speaker wire adaptors from Circuit City to connect to the factory wires. The factory cross over was built into the tweeter. Both the mid and the tweeter wires carry full signal so a co-ax speaker will add lots of front end to your system.

If you use a UV resistant grill cloth it will last MUCH longer.

I ran new wire into the doors (two pairs in each) and mounted the crossovers in the dash. I don't like to run high quality mids full range, it degrades their sound quality. Of course I do plan on adding amps, subs and a new head, but I need to finish the lift first. I need to take some picture of where my door handles "used" to be.

Man there is one place and ONE place only to keep posting those pictures and it is in the picture posting board, not in EVERY SINGLE BOARD, theres no since in it, if you want that many ppl to see the pictures just put a link or tell them about em not post them in every body's post.

AS for the original post... I've taken mine off hundreds of times to paint my just prying them off them putting some clear silicon on the arms and pushing them back on.
