Just got back from dealer to get service on my 2012 2500 HD this is the second time I have asked them to change the tire TPM to read what my new tires presser limit is, 50lds

he gives me a #PIT4506C memo from GM that they are not to change it and that he has no code to tell him how is there some code I can give him to do this or is it just not going to happen with this dealer in fear he may get into trouble with GM? Just want the presser to read correct for the tires I am running. I posted this in the tire section also.

Thanks

I was able to get the dealer I bought my truck from to change the rear tire pressure setting to 60psi. So now I run 60 psi all around. They were reluctant and showed me a GM memo stating that it shouldn't be done. I'm guessing that if I hadn't just purchased the truck from them they wouldn't have done it. Unfortunately the lawyers and greedy "victims" have taken over so I certainly understand the reluctance on GM's part and the dealer. Personal responsibility seems to be a thing of the past for the vast majority of the population.

It's too late now but I would have recommended you purchase a load range E tire, I'm assuming you have load range d tires now? I'm surprised a tire shop would put LR D tires on the truck to start with for the same reasons GM doesn't want the tire pressure thresholds changed. So now you walk in to the dealer with tires that do not meet the weight requirements (load range) for the truck and want them to change the pressure thresholds too. No offense, but you are asking a lot in this day and age of "sue first, ask questions later".

I would try the dealer you purchased from if you haven't already, they are the only ones that may have a bit of compassion for you. Maybe you can convince them to drop the rear to 60psi along with the fronts that should already be at the 60psi threshold. I'm not certain but an actual tire pressure of 50psi may not trigger the system. Mine were down to 53psi this morning (cold) and the system didn't trigger.

Good luck!
