Might get '99 Tahoe, known issues particular to that year?

I found a low mileage (116,000) '99 Tahoe 4 door, two wheel drive, leather, etc. on craigslist. It looks very nice in photos, and we are thinking about getting it. Can y'all help with below?

I had a '96 Silverado, great truck except: fuel pump, transmission went out, and that year had the intake manifold gasket issue. Fuel pump and transmission, eh, kind of regular maintenance I reckon, but the intake manifold gasket issue is the kind of issue I wonder about on the '99 Tahoe. Does anyone know if this year Tahoe has these kinds of problems?

This Tahoe looks great in the pics, and 116,000 miles - not bad. We've been wanting some kind of SUV and this sure beats buying new. I hope!

I don't really think there were any major problems with that year of Tahoe other then the normal things.. But I would highly reconsider finding a GMT800 Tahoe.. 01+.. They are a way better vehicle and you be able to find one with about the same miles for cheap

I know a heap about cars/trucks - from the '50s, nothing about these newfangled thingamajig messes. What in the world is gmt800??

oh, oh, me old eyes finally saw that...'01-. Anyway, this one is for $4,900 asking.

Haha sorry it's just forum language.

I would test drive different years of tahoes and see what you like before being set on that one

Had a '99 'Hoe 2WD and '00 Denali 4WD, both with the 5.7 cast iron 350 and both with intake manifold gasket failures. The wiper motor module also failed on the 'Hoe; that was a recall on '95-'97 400s, but apparently wasn't corrected later. No transmission problems, but one fuel pump on the 'Hoe. Overall, solid vehicles that I really miss. Among other attributes, they had low beltlines and great visibility all around; I knew where all four corners of the vehicles were at all times. Check also for worn door hinge bushings and pins. Good luck; looks like a nice find.

Well boys, this Tahoe is lifted 4", so I checked with local shop yesterday to see if it could be unlifted. Nope, he said lifts are permanent. Plus, I wouldn't pay to have it out back to stock anyway. No I just LOVE looking at young'uns modded trucks, but I want mine cartilage stock.

Shop boy said I should buy it at that price, put a For Sale sign on it for $5,500 and some whippersnapper here would buy it! It'd be a great buy - IF not for that modding on it. I'll pass on this one.

Thanks guys, y'all helped me a heap.
