Fuel pump hose keeps coming off.

 

2002 chevy silverado 1500 5.3

 

Well it has happened twice

 

Story

 

So about 2 weeks ago was driving on freeway and put my foot all the way down on gas pedal and truck died and then wouldn't start.check fuel pump and the hose in the pump was off so instead of replacing pump i pushed it back in trucked started up.4 days ago was driving on freeway no heavy foot this time same thing happen in between that time I had drivin on the freeway at least 10 times with no problem.

 

About the fuel pump the plastic hose has a brass fitting that gets pushed into an opening underneath the top of fuel pump.the brass fitting has a groove on it like an o ring should be on there but I don't know if it did or not.

 

Anyway I'm gonna be replacing the pump just wondering what could have caused this in the first place cuz I don't want it happening with my new pump

 

The pump that is in the truck now has only about 400 miles or so on it and yes was a 60$ eBay pump

 

But I feel that something caused it to come off not just a malfunctioned pump

 

I really need some advice because I am out of free tows and don't wanna be stuck on freeway again
