Left front wheel sits too far foward

I have a front wheel assembly that sits about 1-1.5 inches further forward on the left than on the right within the wheel well.  Today, the dealership where I bought it told me nothing could be done about it and that it meet specs by their visual observation. I've been told by others on another web site that adjusting the castor will solve the problem. I'm going to take the truck to another dealership next week. The truck is a 2002 2500HD 4x4.  In the future I may want to increase to 265/75 or maybe even 285/75 tires---but I don't know if they'll clear on the left side with it being out of wack. If the next dealer gives me the same story I'll be tempted to take it to an allignment shop.

Any comments ?

It meets their specs by visual observation???

Wholly crap!!  But if their eyes are calibrated, excuse me for my laughter.

Throw it up on an alignment rack.  That's the only way to find what is out and what needs to be adjusted.

I've never checked mine forward/aft, but I did check the up/down, and my truck had the very common drivers side lean.  I cranked the torsion bar on that side and leveled the truck from side to side.

Could it be possible that your truck has the "lean" and that tire would then be further up inside the wheel well on the one side, causing it to be closer to the front bumper/airdam?

Either way your dealer is a very funny person!!!  :(   I'd take it somewhere else....

Gee, this post looks familiar to me :jester: so I'll give the same answer I did "on that other forum"; take it to another dealer or to a 4wd center, the kind that knows how to do trucks and has the proper equipment.

BTW; welcome to this forum too... :(

Mine was the same, I thought something was royally messed, but I had it aligned and the torsion bars cranked and equalled out and it took care of the problem.  Its still a tiny bit off, but not at all noticeable.  I have to get my torsion bars adjusted almost every time I get my tires rotated.  I HATE TORSION BARS    :(
