2013 GMC 3500 Diesel hard shift issues

Hello,

First post here and I apologize if this has been addressed before. I attempted a search for the issue but only found one regarding a 2010 1500 and there didn't seem to be a resolution.

My issue is as follows: *Edit, it is a 2012

We get a huge CLUNK when we are downshifting from around 4 to 3rd gear (going around 60MPH - downshift under accelleration). It's an automatic. AND I notice a strong burning smell after around 30 minutes of driving. We brought it to the dealer and they said they "don't feel nuthin" so I'm not very confident about this "diagnosis".

We have actually brought this to the dealer MULTIPLE times and they say they never feel this issue. It is getting progressively worse. I am planning on bringing it to another dealer but would like some input.

We currently have approximately 20k miles on it. It was purchased approximately 2 years ago. We do tow a 35 foot 5th wheel at times but this hard shift is occurring more often and when we are NOT towing.

If there are other threads dedicated to this issue please share the link and I will read.

Please let me know if you have any thought or ideas or questions.

Thanks.

In addition, if anyone knows of any good dealers in the NJ area (near Hoboken or Edison area - even further). I would apprecaite any recommendations of a new dealer to deal with my truck. Thanks.

Yes it's still under warranty. It only have 20-22k miles on it and it's actually a 2012.

Thanks for the replies. I'm contacting the manufacturer to see if they can help

We picked up the truck on Saturday and the dealer said they they didn't feel anything.

Hook up to 20k and cook it lololol. Bring it back and ask "do you feel something now?!?!?" Lol

Hello porkchop.scd,

We are sorry to hear of the concerns you are experiencing with your 2012 GMC Sierra. I recognize how displeasing this must be since the dealership has been unable to diagnose this concern. Sometimes it's best to have the Service Manager ride along with you to be sure they know what concern you are referring to. I understand that you’d like to take your vehicle into a different dealership, if you need any assistance contacting or locating a dealership about addressing your concerns, we are always here to help. Please send a private message with your contact information, VIN, mileage and dealership name.

Best,

Andraya
