2006 GMC 1500 starting problem

Hi gang I hope someone can shed some light on my issue.

My father has a 2006 GMC 1500.

Sometimes when he tries to start it, it turns over just fine but when she starts she only runs for a fraction of a second. Then if you try again maybe it starts normal or it's a series of the same start and run for a second thing. When it's bad the only way to get it to run is to use the remote starter. It will start every time like that.

Any thoughts???
