07 NBS rusting on rear wheel wells

Recommended Posts

I noticed this past spring that there was small yellow dots on the top top of the rear wheel wells. On white paint it stands out pretty good..My neighbor owns a body shop and he says the problem is GM using a foam like material between the box skins where they meet at the wheel well..This holds moisture...So I have these small holes forming on a truck with 100k on it...he says it needs new skins or a new box...They don't make the patch for these trucks anymore...$2400.00 incuding labor to fix or a good used box from scrap yard for a lot less...My question ...Is GM 's corrosion warranty only for 5 years or is there an extended one?

What do you mean by Claim as an NBS?

I have a 2011 Yukon doing the same thing. It started last fall on the drivers side, not the passenger side is doing the same thing in the same place. I went to the dealer, but they said unless there was a hole thru it, I was on my own. We planning on having it fixed, but now that the other side is doing it, I'm going to visit the dealer again. I'm betting there is a hole under my bubbles, but i don't really want to chip off the paint to see.

Hi T Loz and GMC21,

I apologize for the rust that has appeared and understand how frustrating this can be. I would like to investigate your concerns further. Please understand that due to the different model years of your vehicles, both situations would be reviewed under a case by case basis. Send a private message with your full contact information, VIN, mileage, and the preferred dealership if interested. I’m more than happy to assist any way I can.

Sincerely,

Eddie A.

I just wanted to provide an update on the rust issue we are having. Eddie had requested additional info from me and got the ball rolling at the dealership. This time I was dealing with the service manager and had a great experience. It was explained to me that these type of issues are dealt with on a case by case basis, but they wanted to look at the Yukon. I stopped by with it, showed him the areas of concern and a week or so later was contact to see when it could be scheduled for repair. Now I just have my fingers crossed that they do a good job, as I am pretty particular about my vehicles. I really did not expect the dealer or GM to cover this, but I was very pleasantly surprised.

really is case by case lol... I have bought 3 new and many used GM vehicles and they blew me off on my truck.... 2010 36,000 on it but I bought it used.....

Just a follow up to say that they did a great job. I wish the repair never had to happen, but I am happy with the work that was done and the way it looks now.
