Chevy HD Lower Grille Options?

What options (if any) are there for covering the lower grille area to hide/protect the exposed radiator? I did order a Billet Carriage Works Accessories lower billet, but will only mount if the truck does "not" have the parking sensors (which I have) and plan to return it.

Thanks for posting this. I was about to order the Carriage Works grill and I have the sensors.

Do tell more. I don't have sensors, and just installed their grille (black). Will those brackets not screw into place where they go?

Edit: Just looked at a dually LTZ here at work. I'm not sure why the grille won't work?

Studying the internals a little more, I believe with a two extra bolt/nuts I can still install using a different mounting point. I will post again once I try it. (Either way, I will be sending pictures to Carriage Works as I got a call back from them on the issue). And will post pictures here too.

I was close, but the brackets need to be a little longer. I sent email to Carriage Works with pictures. I'm not setup to bend metal or I just make a new bracket. Maybe Carriage Works will send me a test bracket to try...

Note, this is only an issue with parking sensors which has a different configuration in the lower grill area.

For those curious, some of the pictures...

Kent2500, did you try the brackets in the next holes down, and flip the grille over? I did that with mine, and looked at a truck with front park sensors and it looks feasible. I used push on nuts (clip nuts, or whatever you want to call them), 30mm long with a 6mm body bolt and no issues with bracket length.

I did finally install with some bending of the bracket -> http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/165659-lower-billet-install-with-parking-sensors/

With the parking sensor, I didn't see any method to access the next set of holes down from the ones I used. For trucks without a parking sensor, the support structure is very different.

This grill is very well made. You just push the bracket back a tad and the screws line up fine.

It really gives me peace of mine instead of just having that big opening.

I got mine from American Billet. Fast shipping, excellent product.

I just bought a 2015 2500HD. Haven't gotten it from the dealer yet, as it is still going thru prep and other stuff.

But, when I noticed the gaping opening exposing the lower radiator, I knew I would have to do something. I ordered this up....

I used a T-Rex Grille. Installation was easy using the supplied brackets and existing bolts.

Seems rather surprising that GM left that gaping hole open. They go to such lengths to play out the work horse truck idea that can take on the mountain, yet they leave that open to take a good sized object in there and screw things up. I live rural, and occasionally take out a pheasant sized bird. Could just imagine it going into that hole. Nope. Put on the Putco insert and feel a lot better about it now. Not letting any rocks or critters make it in there.

Mine's just like Wyodude's except it's polished. Looks almost factory.

    • Common Sense Assembly   Your driveline is forgiving of the occasional mistake. It will even often forgive the random serious blunder. But it will not forgive a continuous bad habit.      What? Not everything needs to be a five thousand word essay.
    • We drove about 15 minute east today to visit a friend and saw a steep increase in price in the same county. About 50 cents a gallon steepper.
    • Sure about that? A degree wheel and a dial indicator would lower your degree of assurance in that statement. 😉    It why we have offset keys and dialable timing sprockets. Just say'n.... I've built a few and have never seen one "On the money".
    • I will admit I haven't experimented much with pressure drops beyond the numbers I put in and part of that is that the numbers I used are fairly low and then found out it would trigger regardless at that 35 psi. Having said that I had tried before had changed the placard pressures and being that I have a 1 ton set to 80 on the placard for the rear I believe it triggered close to 60, the front I don't recall now for sure but thought maybe it could get close to 45 from that factory 60 placard pressure. So I never did figure out if it was a number of psi from placard pressure to the alarm or a percentage of the total placard number as some figured it was like a 25% drop from placard pressure would trigger it. So as to try and answer your question, I believe I set the placard pressure on the front to 47 or so and while I run the front tires at 40, they have dipped below that some if its colder and I haven't put "winter air" in yet and never once have had the front alarm go off. I would say that the answer your looking for is no, that if you set your placard pressure to 45, you have a certain amount of room to drop below that pressure before the alarm will go off.    The pressures you decide to run in your truck, that ends up being what makes sense to you based on what your carrying in your truck or if towing, then have to bump them back up to something that will carry the load in the rear and the fronts typically left at the same pressure. It all comes down to that chart I put the link to and using an accurate roadside scale to be your guide, both unloaded and then loaded to know your minimum safe pressures.    I just wish GM would allow a person to change the readings for the tire pressures to the English system of pounds as I have to look at that goofy metric reading that will never ever jive in my head and will go over and change it just to figure out what they are if need be and then change it back.
    • That part I understand, that the dealer can do it. But I'm not understanding why updates that were available to the truck since it left the factory, or the dealership originally, would not still be available to it without dealer intervention.   I'm thinking along the lines of recalls. They stay available until they are completed, regardless of whether they are in warranty or not, or in the hands of the original owner or not. Why not updates as well, especially since some of those can be safety related also?
