Help with 02 Silverado

I'm new to the forum and am not sure where to write so I'm going to try here. I have a 2002 Silverado 2500 HD 6.0 Gasser. Lately when taking of from a stop I will hit the gas and my rpms will go up rapidly but the truck barely moves. Like the motor is pumping out power but it isn't getting to the wheels. Not sure what is going on but am fearing transmission troubles. Please help...

Sounds like tranny alright.

Could be transmission or torque converter. It should have a good scanner put on to check for internal codes that arent throwing a check engine light. Then go from there. Most reputable shops will have one. You dont necessarily need to go to the dealer
