HELP...Sunroof wont close

First off i am sorry if i am posting this in the wrong place but i am new to these forums.

My wife recently opened the sunroof in my 2005 Tahoe and now it will not close. I have tried everything that i can find on the net about re initializing the motor as well as unhooking the battery (which is supposed to reset everything) and nothing has worked. Basically the sunroof is open completely and when i hold the "close" button it will move about a 1/2 inch but that is it...it sounds like it is stuck and the motor seems fine. I took it to the dealer and they quoted me a price of $2012.00 to replace the track!!! I understand that this may be a labor intensive job by taking the headliner down and such to replace but...holy cow! I simply want it closed...i really don't care if it works after that. Can anyone give me some advice as to how to get this thing closed?
