2008 Silverado hvac Light sensor functions.

I just bought an 2008 Silverado here in the Netherlands.

On my previous car, a 2005 Cadillac i blinded the little light sensor in the middle of the dash.

This way when the light switch is in auto the lights will always be on.

Never have to worry about the lights, even in foggy conditions.

I like having the lights on all the time.

Now on my truck i noticed in the manual that the light sensor also has a function for the hvac.

I can't find further information on how the light sensor really interacts with the hvac.

For now i have the sensor blocked again.

Can someone explain to me what i will be missing with the sensor covered all the time.

When the Light Sensor senses light it will brighten your HVAC read out lights , and vise versa, also your instrument cluster ligtts ... makes seeing your instrument lights not too bright at night & not too dim during the day ...

Also the sunlight will make the Automatic climatic control put out more cool AC air, knowing the the truck needs more cooling during direct sunlight shining into the truck ...

Ok, that is clear.

Thanks.

I will try it for a while like this.

In the summer ill try a few times without blocking the light sensor.
