2007 gmc vortecmax 6.0

I have a 2007 6.0 and I recently done some motor work to it and was wondering what I should do with my transmission. I put ls3 heads and a bigger cam in with long tub headers and tuned by texas speed and performance. The transmission is holding up fine but I don't think it will hold for long. Just wanting some pointers . It has a 4l80e. I was thinking maybe a shift kit or something ? Just need some help.

Well unless you swapped in a 4L80E, it didnt come with it from the factory. They came with the 4L70E which is a beefed up 4L60E. And the heads, if it is the 07-13 body, the heads were the same as the LS3. The difference in the heads is the lighter intake valve and possibly a sodium filled exhaust valve. If it is the 03-07 bodied truck, well you put rectangle port heads on which is good up top. If you are worried about the trans, put in a 4L80E. Stock they will hold more power than you are putting down

Yeah the 4l80e is a good idea however you will need a custom trans mount, wiring harness, slip yoke, driveshaft, 4l80e tune, maybe flex plate? The only downside is its a bit heavier, you'll lose some mpg, its take a few more horses to run (because its bigger than the 60e), and the gear ratios of the 4l80e are higher than the 4l60e, but if you got 4.10's you really wont notice the taller ratios as much

Agreed, the transmission unless swapped is the 4L70e, which is obviously in the middle of the 4L60e found in the regular 1500s and 4L80e found in the 2500s. It's a pretty stout transmission and I think for what you've done, you don't have anything to worry about. Thats the nice thing about the Vmax package, It will handle quite a bit you could throw at it. I owned an 07 Vmax too and REALLY liked it.

A vette servo, trango HD2, amsoil, and trucool 40K, superhold 4th servo, Will significantly increase the life of your transmission if all installed together. Since you have high end heads I'm assuming your cam moved your power band up, a circle-D might be something to consider if you want better take off's. They're only like 450$. I got scared when i bought mine so had a new oem put in [emoji32]
