2009 Silverado Blinking Lights

Last night I was riding around on a gravel road and noticed my truck was doing something a little unusual. Every time I hit a bump, my headlights would dim. I checked the battery connections, and they're still clean and tight. Nothing looks out of the ordinary. What could I be missing that would cause temporary power reduction?

I must have been half asleep when I posted this. :nonod: . All things considered, the truck is running fairly normal. The gauge on the dash is at a little above 14 V. I will add this. As I was waiting for a traffic light to turn yesterday, I noticed that with my blinker and headlights one, the headlights seemed to have a faint flicker to them. I know the alternator is producing a fraction of its peak power at idle, but I know it shouldn't be causing that kind of inconsistent power.

Dont know if this is the problem, but there was a TSB issued for headlight issues, #10-08-42-001 for your year truck. It basically talked about a potental for melted connectors and wires at the headlamp. I could see the issue starting to manifest itself as flickering lights before it gets worse to full meltdown. You're looking for a heat discolored plug that attaches to the headlamp and or signs of melted plug and wires at the headlamp. It would be a worthwhile check considering what you are describing.

I never thought to check the recall list. I know the heated washer fluid unit is supposed to be removed on these, mainly because the dealer up the road sends me a notice every three months. Anyway, I had to replace the drivers side headlight assembly due to a collision with a buzzard. While I had it apart, I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary, but I will take a second look. If there is anything I don't like, I guess I'll sub in the headlight wire harnesses that came with the assemblies.
