Ignition Switch

Anyone ever changed the ignition switch in a newer S-10. My son's truck has been having trouble with the transmission and it turns out to be a faulty ignition switch. Seems that when he starts it the check engine lights ans etc. don't come on. If you wiggle the switch they come on. I guess he has talked to a service tech and thats what they come up with. The switch is relatively cheap so I thought we'd try that to see if it cures the problem before we let the dealer have it for a $100 diagnostic. Thanks guys.

Come on somebody's must of done this?!?! Is there any service techs out there with the know how?? Any information would be really helpful.

I haven't done an S10 but I have done many GM columns. If you need to change the electrcal contacts, simply remove lower dash pannels to access. You will need to unbolt the column from the dash mounts and push the column towards the floor to gain access to the switch.
