Tow mirrors with signals?

I'm looking to put tow mirrors onto my truck, but I'd like to have the ones with the turn signals on them.

I currently have the stock non-tow mirrors without any leds on them. Am I able to install mirrors with the signals even though mine currently don't have any?

Yes. Gm just released the accessory tow mirrors and they have turn signals in them. They are not cheap and you need some new harnesses to go with them. May even need to have the bcm reflashed to make everything work depending on your truck.

You have to wire them up as far as I know and thats what I did for mine

You can replace them no problem. Will the turn signal work just with the plug and play? That we won't know because we don't know if your truck has the wire for the turn signal. If it doesn't then you will have to wire it yourself. I'm sure there's a thread on that

Thanks for the responses guys. I think I'll open my door up and remove my mirror prior to buying the towing mirrors.

Would wiring the turn signals be difficult if I had to do it myself?

If you check out shopchevyparts.com and go to the truck and find the tow mirrors, it talks about if you don't have turn signal then you "can't add turn signals" but I bet you can just tap into the turn signal wires. Anyway, it also says about an rpo code dl8 I belive and if you have this rpo then you can buy a harness that now gm sells for like $70 per side of the door and then have your dealer program the bcm and it will give you clearance light I think. Or it might so be the turn signal but not sure. Check it out

Thanks! I'll take a look at the website. Do you know if I try doing this myself if it voids the warranty? I suppose I should ask my Chevy dealer to be safe

Sounds easy enough! But if like Nitro said, I may need to have the bcm programmed. Which could be a problem if I go ahead and do this, then somehow void my warranty

The only warrantee you will void is whatever problems happen because of this and I really don't see any problems occurring from installing towing mirrors.
