New Bird Gun

I'm still fascinated by the small size of this gun. The grip is also thin. I suppose that could be a liability too.

Very nice gun spurshot. I too love sub gauge SxS shotguns. I shoot my 28ga almost exclusively now days. I've always wanted a .410 but now that we are going to all non tox shot in CA I've decided a 20ga will be better for me. I'm looking to get a new Dickinson before next season.

Agreed. The non-tox is a deal killer for 410. A 28ga could be a good one with some expensive shot. I have a Parker Reproduction in 28ga that I may someday load some Bismuth for. But my immediate plan is to shoot steel thru the ol' 20ga pump below. It's an old mid 30s Win M12 solid rib, choked punched out to .010"

The 28ga does pretty well with 5/8oz loads of steel 7s on quail, doves, and snipe but I do shoot bismuth at pheasants and chukar. I have a few boxes of AA's I need to shoot up and start loading my own. I also have a few 20ga I shoot but my 28 is the perfect bird gun for me.

Rumor on the doublegunshop forum is that steel shot thru a soft soldered double will loosen the ribs at the chokes. As I understand the issue, the barrel stretches slightly as the steel shot passes thru the choke and that eventually loosens the ribs. Ive thought about taking a sxs 20 and either boring the chokes to cylinder or putting cylinder screw-in Briley's in it.

Yeah, that's why I only shoot small steel (7s) through cyl/ IC chokes in my 28ga.
