Left is new H9, right is OEM H11.

H9 2100 lumens vs. H11 1350 lumens

Also upgraded brights from 9005 to HIR/9011

Both are 65W vs OEM 55W. Will do for now until I get my FXR 3.0 projectors with D2S HID fitted.

PS, the tuner guys have a lot of write ups on how to modify both bulbs to fit. A dremel and a file and 5 minutes total, and you will be good to go.

Phillips HIR/9011 on Left, OEM on Right. The top post has to be filed down 3mm along with removing a plastic ridge in the bulb base in order to plug in our OEM harness and reflector bowl.

HIR/9011 2530 lumens vs. 9005 1700 lumens.

Purchased my HIR/9011's here:

Good upgrade, I had the same before my FX-R retro. Most people here would be sad to find out a $10-$20 H9 bulb will outperform their LED or PnP HID kit in stock housings. :) Another gain is the fact our factory bulbs are low output even for H11 and 9005 bulbs-our factory bulbs are LL or long life and they burn a little dimmer than regular halogens.

The H9 upgrade was also done on this forum back when the GMT900 came out. I ran them the entire 6 years I had my 08. They provided great night visibility. The only drawback was the short life. I was replacing bulbs about every year, probably shorter than that. I drove about 25k a year. Ymmv. BTW, they were available at Autozone and O'reilley for $14
