How do you reset the "change engine oil" message

I have a 03 Chevy 2500HD LS.  In going through the manual it states that it has the engine oil life monitor.  I had this on my 02 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE, and I would reset it by pressing the gas pedal 3 times in 5 seconds.

This one says that I just press the fuel / oil life button on my steering wheel and hold it down until it says reset.  Problem is, is that I don't have the buttons on the wheel, so how do I reset it?

Thanks.

You need to do the reset when you change the oil whether the reminder light is on or not.

I had an Olds minivan that was a little tempermental and it would sometimes take a few tries to get the light to reset...

I don't know why they just don't got with an easy set up like on our Venture. You just push the trip reset button till you get to the oil life reading and then hold it down till it resets. Way easier and you also have an idea of what % oil life you have left.  I guess GM needs to make different set ups so they can sell more parts :flag:

Stomping on the gas did not work on my '03.  Bring up the engine oil life on your DIC.  Then press and hold your select button until it resets--if you have the steering wheel controls it is the arrow looking thing.  If you don't have steering wheel controls, I THINK it is just the button that you use to reset your trip odometers.  Hope this helps.

Unless I am doing something wrong the gas pedal trick did not work for me either in the 02 Tahoe.  But at least it is about ready for another oil change.
