Brake booster?

Recently my 2003 GMC Sierra 1500 brakes have been dragging. After driving for a few minutes the brake pedal will get really hard with poor braking action and I have noticed the brakes are dragging and getting extremely hot. I read many forums stating that this is a common brake booster problem. I recently went to a local auto parts shop and told them the reason I needed a new break booster and they looked at me like was crazy and told me there is no way. Looking to see if anyone has a similar issue or could point me in the right direction.

Try flushing the fluid and put new fluid in first
