so my truck is a 2006 Gmc sierra 2500 the check engine light came on and it was a p0442 for a small leak detected

and I got a new gas cap that shut the light out for a day and it came back on so the next thing I did was get the revised vent canister with the filter on it and that shut the light out for a day I don't know what it could be.

My check engine light came on and I have the same code.

If you're in the rust belt, check the fuel tank filler neck very carefully. I thought mine was OK, but a smoke test found it was rotted badly right below where the cap is.

Thanks for the info I will check that. I cleared the code a couple days ago (approximately 100+km) and the check engine light hasn't returned so I think it was a glitch. I'll check the neck just to make sure though!
