Will 14' canopy fit on 12' bed

My father is selling his canopy off his 2014 gmc 1500 crew cab and I am not sure if it will fit on my 2012 gmc 1500 so I was just checking to see if anybody has had any experience with this. Both beds are the same length but the body is different. I have done some research and I saw a canopy off a 12' would fit on a 14' but just checking to see if the newer canopy will fit on the older body style. Any advice would help thanks.

I had to chuckle, this thread is a little confusing at first.

 

I read it as "14-foot canopy on 12-foot bed". Using the commonly-used formats avoids confusion. Model years are usually truncated in the formats of 'x or 'xx.
