Suspension concern

I just put on a new set of Bilstien 4600's on my 2003 1500 hd sierra ordered through shockware house. I notice at full droop both front and rear shocks run out of travel by about an inch. This was also the case with the factory shocks. With the truck down on its wheels obviously this is not of concern. According 5100's specs they can be used with 0- 2.5in lift, Im wondering if this would've have been a better option? Has anybody here run into this? Thanks ahead of time!

Yes, meaning the weight of the truck supported at the frame and the front and rear suspension at full extension.
