06 Crew Cab 4.8L 3.23 Ratio Rear End Blown

Well allow the pictures to speak for themselves here on this one. 152K miles, never changed out my fluids and blew my rear end. Replacing with one from salvage yard, I will get the miles on it. What type of fluid and how much do I need to use to maintain this thing in good shape for another 200K miles? Getting another drive shaft with u joints. Any help would be much appreciated and thank you!

The type of fluid depends on what type of differential you have in it. Std diffferential or G80 you can use any good synthetic rear end oil that meets specs. Fill it til it flows out the fill hole- on the right side above the web.

If you go with a different differential, oil specs may be different.

About 2.15 quarts 75-90w synthetic. 5/8-1 5/8 inch below the fill holes the spec. Just serviced mine, 4.8l with 3.23 at 138k...I'm glad I did it.

Just did mine not long ago with 180km. Looks like it was never done up until that point. Boy does that stuff stink. I left a bag of the rags with gear oil on them and whatnot lying around by accident and opened it up the other day and had a whiff. It just about made me sick.
