Dash Light Issue

Just recently bought a used 09 Silverado Crew Cab LTZ. Truck has been great but is giving me an odd electrical issue.

 

When I exit the vehicle with the key out of the ignition the lights for my instrument cluster gauges do not turn off. At first I thought it was a long timer but they seem to just stay on indefinitely.

 

I have read a few older forum threads from people who had a similar problem and replaced the dimmer switch. I went and unplugged it and the lights remain on. Could this still be my issue?

 

Here's the weird part. If I press and hold the trip button on my DIC the odometer text pops up and the guage lights shut off but only until I release the button. The only thing I have found to turn the lights off is unplugging the DIC button module OR removing a battery connection but as soon as I replace either they come right back on.

 

I am stumped as to what it may be. Could it be as simple as trying to replace the DIC button module? Only place I can find one is ebay. Before I start throwing parts into a new truck or take it in to someone I would like to get some insight. Maybe from someone who has dealt with something similar?

 

The lights only cause a VERY small draw so I have had no issues from it but don't need anymore down the line because I igored it!
