I took advantage of GM's 24 hr giveaway yesterday.  I tested a 03 GMC Z71, I was interested in the 1500HD or 2500LD but GM pays the dealer milage on the 24 hr vehicle.  This was my first time driving a new GM since a 96 3500 chassis cab and the ride was awesome.  The things I liked were: Power seats, speed adjusted radio, autodimming mirrors, auto headlights and cushy seats.  Things I didn't like: soft brakes( I would be afraid to trailer this truck with those brakes), highbeam switch(why did they mimic F$#Ds with the push in to activate high beams. With GM you always pulled the signal arm towards you) and the throttle by wire you guys have been talking about.  It just didn't feel right and finally the buttend needs some tractor weights, everytime I pulled out I'd break loose unless I babied it.  When I took it back to the dealer today I thought they would play all types of games with me to buy one but I had no pressure they gave me my keys right away WOW!  Before I left I drove a dmax in a 25HD to feel the ride difference and it wasn't bad.  The HD was stiffer but only in the rear( I guess cause its rated to haul a house and pull a small town).  The only complaint with the dmax-allison combo is the noise, GM needs to visit DODGE south of the border to learn how to build quiet diesels(03 cummins is quiet as a gasser).  Now I must wait till the 04's and some down payment, man it was hard getting back in the 92.  You guys that talk about rattles and rough riding trucks can take mine for a drive, after that you'll think your driving caddys. :thumb:
