Swapping out instrument cluster...

Thinking of getting a denali or escalade cluster from Ebay.

The seller says he can put my current mileage on the new cluster.  Will the dealer know this?  Actually I'm not trying to be dishonest but what if I take the truck in for warranty work and they see a different cluster. How does the dealer know that I am being honest??  Does it set of a code when you disconnect the odometer??

Thanks

I may be wrong, but I think you may need the old cluster with the new cluster to transfer the milage.  You have to hook them up to a computer or something....as far as being honest and stuff, when you buy a new cluster, it usually comes with some "Official" sticker that you date and put the milage on it when you changed the cluster.  Thats if you get the new cluster and don't transfer your milage.

I had the dealer change my stock cluster to a 3/4 ton cluster. They ordered the new cluster with the current milage and engine hours, so there was no need for the door jam sticker.

there is one store on eBay that , if you have the winning bid

will transfer mileage "legally" but you must ship them the old one to do so.that kinda bites having to ride around all week with no gauges .the upside is when you get your core back you can put it up on eBay. last one i saw on there was factory and it went for over 200.00.

let me know how it turns out   :thumb:

unitedradio.com will update mileage and hours, you have to fill out a statement swearing to the mileage and once they receive the cluster they will enter the vehicle info.. total charge is $62.00. they have a one day turn around. i dont see how the dealer could void a warranty, the mileage should also be in the trucks computer.
