Lowering the 4x4

Recommended Posts

Posted

I have an 04 silverado Z71 and i have it sitting on a RC level kit. Now before all the 4x4 guys jump me here me out. The truck has been a decent hauling rig and work truck for 4 years since ive owned it now im wanting to go the complete opposite direction with it. I want to go low but not slammed. Im taking my truck to the performance side and theres just something about 33s that say slow to me. I want to try and get this part of my build done as cheap as possible to put more money into the engine, trans and rear diff. Any opinions, advice or tips are welcome and appreciated!

remove the level kit and the rear block.

put shackle lowering kit in the rear and decrank the torsion bars in the front.

you'll need shorter shock also

also need alignment when done

doing all that should get you about 2in or so lower than it was stock.

Is there any problems with resting just the leafs on the axle? And how true are the 3/4 ton key swaps? Fitment, gas/diesel truck, wear with used ones?
