Caliper pin won't budge - 2004 Silverado

Cannot get caliper pins to budge on 2004 Silverado. Have used impact wrench, breakover, cheater pipe, tried it all. Hit on it with a hammer, sprayed penetrating lube in it- have not used a torch, nervous it'll melt the rubber boot.

They won't move.

This has the torx head in it- scared to strip it out if I try any harder.

I am turning it the right direction.

Did I miss a step? 1. Remove tire

2. Remove caliper pins- correct?

First post so sorry if wrong forum- but think I may have to take it in and get it done.

Thx

No, you did not miss any steps.

Looks like heat is the only remaining option. No need to be nervous about the boot melting, it definitely will. But it is easily and inexpensively replaceable.

I am glad I don't have the torx head on mine. Mine has a 19mm hex head.

if you can get one of the bolts out, you can rotate the caliper up and away from the pads, then slide it off the bolt all without removing the second bolt. I too have a torx bolt which stripped and did not come loose. When i do the pads on that side I simply remove one of the pins. Im sure one day I'll actually get an appropriate extractor and do it right. i may wind up replacing the caliper by then, who knows.

FWIW OE was the torx and aftermarket replacements are the normal hex head.

My 2006 with front discs came with the hex heads from the factory, they were never torx on mine.

05 changed that when the front brake package was enlarged
