Excalibur remote start not working need help

I've got an Excalibur Omega remote start that came on my 2011 gmc Sierra 1500. When I press the start button on the remote the entire dash lights up and the radio comes on as it would right before the ignition should fire up. However it doesn't start and the dash reads "service vehicle maintenance system". I would assume this is connected, but I've never owned a vehicle with remote start, or a vehicle with a dash readout for that matter. Anyone else have this issue, or know what the problem is?

I have done a few remote starts - been years since I have done and excalibur, they are all about the same.

Did it work at one time?

Sounds like power to one of the accessory wires is missing - or more likely the bypass module doesn't have power or lost programming. Did you do any work under the dash... - unground the bypass module by accident?

The excalibur unit should have fuses on several wires... check for blown fuse on one of them.

Take a peak under the dash. should be more than one 30 amp fuse.

There should also be a bypass module - needed in conjunction with the excalibur.

from inside the vehicle hit remote start and turn you key to the on position (which should give you all the power and bypass) at this point the excalubur is only providing the power to crank.

Best way to find the problem is this.

1. Hold key sideways up to the cylinder and try to remote start

2. Put key in ignition but do not turn and try and remote start.

3. Turn Key to accessory and try to remote start.

4. Turn key to ignition and try to remote start.

That will give us direction for the true problem.

Your starter is a mux system with separate accessory and ignition wires. So this will help direct but yes. If lights come in but it doesn't attempt to start most likely the problem is with the immobilizer interface that is controlling the mux that is the starter.
