Range AFM or Program Delete?

Subject says it all..... Was talking with my mechanic and he is getting the equipment to disable the AFM on our trucks. He would be charging 100.00 in order to do this.

Would I be better served going with a Range AFM or doing the 100.00 programming delete? My main concern is that if I ever have to take the truck back to the dealer for BCM upgrades or what not I might loose the programming my mechanic did. I have not spoken to him about the cost to reprogram if this would happen, but I would assume it would be the same charge.

On the other hand with the Range AFM there is the additional upfront cost as well as potentially dealing the small issue of battery drain.

At the moment I am leaning towards just purchasing the range AFM. Any thoughts or ideas in either direction would be appreciated.

Thanks! Just ordered one from auto anything as well as a set of mudflaps. Spent way too much time filling in chips in the rock guard today

Wouldn't the program your mechanic will do be detectable by GM?

I'm guessing so... I would rather spend my money locally as our mechanic and his team are pretty awesome and knowledgeable people. However, I didn't want to take the chance with having their changes programmed over or detected by GM - hence ordering the Range AFM
