Wiring Help on Tahoe PPV

I'm looking for a little assistance on what's likely a simple wiring project on a 2016 Tahoe PPV (police).

I'm a police officer and our Tahoe PPVs are ordered with the DRL and auto headlamp delete. Downside is that when you turn the headlights off the instrument panel goes to full brightness and can't be dimmed, so you've got those bright lights glaring in your face when you're trying to drive around blacked out catching burglars. But the Tahoe has an optional "surveillance feature" that looks to allow all of the instrument panel lights to be shut off.

Anyways, here's what the PPV guide says:

I got GM part # 13582297 which is a wire with a terminal (I assume that's the correct description) on one end that plugs into the BCM connector. Am I correct that I just need a switch like this (http://amzn.com/B00BLZ85YG) and that I run that GM wire from the BCM to one terminal on the switch, and then a wire from the other terminal to a ground screw? Does it matter which wire goes to which terminal? Feel free to dumb it down for me, I'm not electrically inclined but I'm willing to give it a shot.

Prior to retirement when we had our strobes and other equipment installed it was subbed out to a private shop that had that expertise. They did everything electrical including sound systems. Their knowledge of relays, resistors, and circuits was impressive. Instead of just on or off dimming is resistance. Being brand new I would figure this a simple job for that kind of shop. Might be less frustrating! LOL Just a suggestion. And yes rookies never realize they are glowing from the dashboard! Be safe, good luck
