05 2wd Silverado drum to disc conversion

I have a 2005 silverado that has drum brakes in the rear and I am considering converting it to disc brakes. Can I just bolt up a disc brake rear end and go, or is the process a little more complicated than that?

If the pinon yoke matches and gear matches.

You can also pull the axle shafts and change the backing plates and lines, then bolt on the disc equipment

You could easily put a disc brake rear axle in. Plug and play. Your issue will be with the master cylinder and proportioning valve. A disc/drum system has a small amount of fluid pressure always in the rear system. On a disc setup, that causes the brakes to apply even though you arent hitting the pedal, due to there being pressure in the system. Also, the master cylinders are different. Now it would be a relativelt simple swap to take the stuff from a 4 wheel disc truck and put it in.

I took my 4 wheel disc setup and put the 05 disc/drum front setup on and now i am waiting for parts to upgrade the rears to the dual piston setup from the AWD trucks.
