Silverado SS (1st generation)

Anyone own a 1st generation Silverado SS. I'm talkin' about the 454SS. I saw one for sale yestereday. A 91' for $12,000!!! Couldn't believe the price for something so old..worth it???

If it's low mileage, and in perfect condition, then yes. It's worth it.

Thats about what they go for.

You can pick up a decent one under 100k miles for about 8 grand around here.

Problem is finding one that some teenager hasn't filled full of rice, and ragged it silly.

Only reason I know this, is I was going to buy one a few months ago. Then thought better of it. I can buy the same truck with a 350 for less than half that, and build the motor to flat dust an SS454....And still have saved 2-3 thousand.

I think they were supposed to be fairly valueable. I read that from a performance standpoint, they were dogs. Oh well..I don't have 12k to sink into it, and wouldn't much rather have a nice 5.3L.

I bought one the first year they came out. It was a dog, I mean it was fast but you think wow 454 that thing must be a screamer. A stock 350 short bed 2wd of the same year would give it a good run. Plus the first year production didn't have overdrive, man did it suck the gas.
