boring the throttlebody

:confused: can you bore out your factory throttle body for a 2001 chevy silverado with the 5.3. and how much would i want to bore it out to. if i can can bore it out can somebody please tell me of somebody that can do it for me and how much. and were can i find parts for boring it out like a new butterfly valve and things like that. any info please.

It could be done, or you could buy the 80MM BBK, but you'll find the manifold opening it bolts on to is no bigger than stock throttle body size, so whats the point?. You can port and smooth the stock throttle body for better flow, I did that on my 2000 5.3 and noticed a difference.

That BBK does a whole lot of nothing. The 5.3 already has a large TB. Just port your stock TB and you should be good. Just be careful and dont over port it or your truck will idle funny. You can get some JB weld and fill in the section of the TB where the entry to the IAC motor is. Smooth flow out a bit. Then drill a hole through it. My friend did this with the TB on his TransAm. He ended up having to get a new one because he over ported it. With the cam hes running he couldnt correct the idle with LS1Edit. It can be dont, just be careful. Dont spend the money on that BBK! I will try to snap a few shots of my buddys TB that he ported. Looks pretty good.

were would i get this done professionaly done. i am kinda not set on me just drilling holes in my tb. and were would you drill the hole :thumbs:
