Aftermarket Wheels

I'm looking for wheels for a new Tahoe. I don't know too much about the various manufacturers/brands. I do know that I'm looking for off-road-type wheels, not street wheels. Can anyone tell me some good brands to consider (website addresses/links would be appreciated)?

Also, can anyone tell me anything (pros/cons) about the following brands:

-- American Racing (I have some on my wife's Suburban--they look good, but I don't know if they're high-end wheels)

-- American Eagles (I've seen some that look cool. Is this a top-end brand?)

-- Antera (they seem too "street rod" for my taste).

Thanks!!

The selection is endless. My advice is go to your local 4wheel pars wholesalers as well as any other tire store and ask to see their wheel catalogs. Take them home with you and pick out your favorites or if you’ve seen a truck with wheels you like try to find them. I am running American Racing Atlas wheels (polished) and they look/work great. As for hi end/low end its all a matter of taste. Someone could pay $300 per wheel and love them while you think they suck. Good luck.

If you are looking for a good off-road wheel and you can afford it, I would stick with a forged wheel, such as Weld Racing, Raceline, or Center Line.

Be sure to check the load rating of each wheel, I know the Welds are rated at 3200 lbs each wheel, while some of the other "bling" brands go only up to 1900 lbs.

If you go to the various sites I listed above, you will see by the price that these are top end wheels. Weld's chrome is warranteed for 5 years and Raceline's is warranteed for 3 years.

Long timers are:

American Racing, Weld, Alcoa, Centerline, Eagle Alloys, and I think two others I forgot.

Any others are out there are just "FLASH" wheels (looks, IMO). Within the last 5 years, anyone that access to a block of alloy and a CNC machine can make wheels. Whether or not they are performance proven is another. Then there is the question of consistency of alloy (quality control) from block to block i.e. their supplier of bulk material.

I stuck with American Racing because of the name and also that they made a nice sensible 6 spoke that won't get me mistaken for P-Diddy if you know what I mean.

Also the price was right. Got them new off eBay with brand new tires for $1200 Don't ask me how, why, etc

Those are Boss 301s. Nice! They were on my list but couldn't get a cheap set in chrome. You can get them in a polished 20 inch for $149 from www.bigjimsrims.com and on eBay.

Hey larry............

Today is the first time I actualy read your signature......... How true that is.... Not that I'm going to run right out and lower my truck however most trucks that are lowered have a lot of "LOVE" in them... To me anyone that puts that much time, effort and money into a truck deserves a little respect........

Personaly I like the lifted trucks better cause then I can run over ricers :thumbs::cheers:
