5.3 falls off at full throttle

Hey everyone, I'm about bald from scratching my head.

I have an 06 Chevy 1500 with 76k on the ticker, 5.3 non e85. It runs pretty good but it's developed a problem.

While driving if I stand into it, it shifts down and the engine bogs down to about 3000 rpm and loses speed. I tried it at city and highway speeds and it doesn't matter, it will repeat the issue. I tried it in park, stepped on it and the engine hit the governor and bogged down to 3000 or so. I have checked fuel, ignition, exhaust and just about everything I could find. It will drive fine until I stand on it. If I'm on the interstate, when it shifts down to go up a hill or accelerate, it will fall on its face. Could it be a problem with the engine or the torque converter not locking up/ staying locked up?

Check the knock sensors. Common problem on Gen-III engines. Especially the rear one. Mine was so badly corroded, it was barely recognizable.

Check/replace your fuel pressure regulator. Very easy to do and cheap part. It may not be allowing enough fuel pressure to the rail when you attempt WOT.

Edit: make sure you buy ac delco regulator.

I had an old work truck with the 6.0 that had this very same problem, except it would come and go . I just can't remember exactly what its was, I think it was a knock sensor or the o2 sensors
