Exhaust Dillema

looking for exhaust for my 03 tahoe w/5.3, today i went to a shop and they quoted me for 389.99 for a dual same side exit with a flowmaster 70 series with chrome tips... then i called my friends dad who owns a shop and asked what he thought... he said that he has an 02 escalade in his shop that has a flowmaster dual side (not same side) exit and that he would have my tahoes exhaust swapped with the escalade's... all i have to pay is 100.00 labor. would this cause any problems 6.0 to 5.3??? would it sound bad??? what would you rather do??? thx.

I just took off a dual out Magnaflow and put on an OEM exhaust from an 03 Avalanche. I believe it's the same as your Tahoe, personally, I wouldn't change it. I didn't loose any performance, in fact I gained some low end. All you'll get is interior resonance and some rumble but not much of a gain in performance. You may even loose some low end if you get the wrong muffler. Your OEM exhaust is pretty good on the Tahoe, it's a 3" in and out, and it's stainless. As far as the Escalade muffler, I believe it's a dual in muffler, so unless he's going to cut your head pipe Y and run dual pipes, I don't see how it'll work. It's probably a good muffler though, it's good enough for the 345 hp and 380 tq the Escalades 6.0L puts out. Ask him how he'll hook it up. I like the Av muffler and tailpipe I put on my truck. It looks good and is quiet inside the truck with a slight rumble at the tailpipe.
