Hi

I was hoping that someone here might be able to help me with a vibration problem or where to start diagnosing the problem of my truck vibrating (1999 silver ado 1500 Z71., extend cab, long bed)

Currently while accelerating and maintaining speed my truck starts vibrating and having a humming sound at 45 mph is the worst at 50 mph and then dissipates down through to 60 mph. the vibration and humming is noticed through the whole cab by other passengers as well.

While in 2wd this occurs when gas is being applied while driving at those speeds if I let off the gas and coast down from 65 the vibration and humming completely disappears/ is nonexistent

While in 4wd hi the vibration is still there and does not go away while coasting.

Has anyone else experienced this or know where i should start trouble shooting this problem?

Thanks

I will check those out this llong weekend to see if I can find anything wrong. I would have thought if it was the hubs it would have vibrated all the time not just when accelerating?

Thanks,

+1 and as suggested you must remove the shafts to properly check u-joints. You are going to be looking for tight or notchy feel to rotation through the entire arc the joints move in.
