2500LD options

Going to get a K2500 LD. Edmunds is vague about the availability of the CD changer and KBB says you must have bucket seats. I don't want bucket seats. Is there a high quality aftermarket changer available? Another question: Is the temperature and compass in the mirror standard equipment for the SLE? Thanks guys.

I don't know about the '03 models, but in the earlier trucks, I think the rearview mirror was an option on all but the top of the line trucks. I'm guessing the CD changer is in the center console, and that is why you would need bucket seats...

In the 1999-2002 the CD player was in the radio unit and the cassette deck was in the front lower part of the console and available only with bucket seats.

 

Now for 2003 the CD player is in the radio unit. If you get a 6 disk changer which is part of the radio you can't get a cassette deck. If you want a cassette deck, it is immediately below the radio dial as part of the radio unit, and a single disc CD player is directly above the radio.

 

I don't believe you need bucket seats to get either of them. There is a $200 msrp credit for getting the single disc CD player combined with the cassette deck as opposed to the 6 disc CD changer.

 

I opted for the cassette deck/single disc CD in my truck, because with the crew cab you get a rear seat control for the kids to use with headphones. My kids have both CDs and cassettes, so this way they have an option.
