Front Bumber Bracket for License Plate

My Sierra has no bumber bracket In the front bumber. I found where on the bumper theres a piece that comes off and you can insert one. However I was wondering if anyone has just kept the piece on since they're state doesn't require a front plate?

 

I'm in Texas and they do but I really like the look of the non tampered bumber, does anyone have experience with a clipped on license plate? I've seen some posts of trucks with them on here.

I'm in Texas also and I don't have the front plate on. It was on when I first got the truck but I pulled it off quick, I prefer the smooth look of the bumper rather than a big square sticking out. Haven't had any problems as of yet... *knocking on wood*

Yeah I like the smooth look myself
