side steps

i have a 2002 chevy ,that needs side steps for the wife to get in .do i get the stainless or chrome ?

Both, chrome plated stainless steel.

never buy just chromed steel...it will rust in a few years. Get stainless or chromed stainless.

I've had bad luck with aftermarket chrome accessories. My steps are stainless and don't have the gloss of chrome but after almost 5 years they look like new stainless.

I put chromed stainless on my '99 Silverado. I ran them for three years and sold them to a buddy when I turned my truck back after my lease came up.

They are now just over four years old and do not have so much as a speck of rust on them.

You'll spend a bit more for them, but you get what you pay for.

If you live where they use road chemicals in the winter, the ONLY choice is stainless. Chrome will look like crap after the first couple of snowfalls. Get Westin "Platinums" if you can find them.

I respectfully submit that chome plated stainless stand up to chemically treated winter roads just fine. As I noted above, the chrome plated stainless pair that I had are four years old now and still sparkle after four years of heavily salted Ontario roads.

I'm with Muskoka,

I live in up state New York. Put the performance chrome plated/ ss side steps on in Oct.02. They look as good as ever now after being in one of the worst winters for snow fall and salt I've ever incounted. This past winter is exactly the reason I bought this tpye of step.

The other way I was thinking of going was getting a powder coat step and bring it to Line-x for a coating. But the chrome /ss won it out.
