Bought a cheap car scanner for 10 buckes elm 327 on my 05 gmc jimmy dint do squat . Went to go use my mechanics scanner wich i should have went to the first place , it wont let it scan obd the anti theft light keeps poppong up and my gas meter goes low . Is it seriouse ? It happens when the car scanner plugs in when i take it out no dash lights. I think its because the elm 327 chinese one maybe triguerd the fire wall and wont let scanner threw now idk .

It is not the ELM 327. I've used mine fine with the Torque app and even used to always leave it plugged in. There is an electrical issue somewhere. Not sure what you can do without proper diagnosis, but I had something similar on the instrument panel with a 2011 F150 and the Body Control Module is bad.
