This past weekend scaffolding from the John Hancock building fell 42 stories and crushed 2 vehicles killing 2 of 4 people in one of the two cars on Chestnut street in downtown Chicago.  One of the victims, Jill, was an acquaintance of mine that I worked with for over the past few years.  I feel so bad for her family and husband that I also worked with prior to their moving to Kansas City area.  It is a true shame to see such a nice happy young couple separated by this freak accident.  If this had happened to my wife I know I would be a hurting unit for the rest of my life.

Be careful out there in this crazy world guys and don’t forget to tell the people that mean the most to you what they mean to you everyday! A person doesn’t realize how precious and fragile life really is until a freak tragedy strikes close to home.

My condolences Larry.

I can still see they haven't replaced the windows yet as they still have them boarded up.

Now they are blaming the contractor who's scaffolding it was at least that's what I read in the Chicago Tribune this morning.

This sort of thing is the true definition of freak accident.  I mean come on, what are the odds a scaffold is going to fall and crush your car while you are waiting at a stoplight?

Really tough way for anyone to go in a manner such as this.

Yea, people are pissing and moaning that this should've never have happened.  Well lets see, you had 60+mph winds that day on top of a building that's 1,100ft tall, do the math!!!

I feel no one should be held liable.  Sh*t happens but someone will find legal recourse.

Too bad this is the way the society we live in is, sue for whatever you can, and have a good chance of winning it.

For instance, you have caused me great mental anguise by your constant bad talk about my country music.  See you in court where I will win $250,000!

Well, then I'll have to countersue for mental anguish cuased to myself from having to be confronted on all fronts with country music threads.

I'm thinking a cool million will help ease my pain and suffering.  :D

Sorry to hear about that Larry.  It makes it twice as hard when the loss is under such strange circumstances.
