How much fluid in the Allison?

The factory owners manually does not list the capacity of the Allison transmission. How many quarts of fluid does it take?

I need to chaing my ATF this weekend in my Allison transmission. Did you ever find out how many quarts of Dexron III this will take.

Here are the amounts based upon which pan you have (the shallow pan is what comes on the truck stock). The refill numbers are the ones your looking for.

 

Initial fill (transmission only) With deep oil pan 14.8 qts (14 liters)

With shallow oil pan 12.7 qts (12 liters)

 

 

Refill (transmission only) With deep oil pan 10.6 qts (10 liters)

With shallow oil pan 7.4 qts (7 liters)
