Leaking engine at 1500 miles - 6.2L

Hello all,

Looking for some guidance.

Just got a new 2017 sierra Denali with the 6.2. Brought it in for its 1500 mile oil change at the dealer last week. While they had it up on the lift they found some leaking antifreeze. The dealer told me they ordered a new cylinder head to replace the leaking one. After telling some of my more mechanically inclined friends they are advising me to be careful and ensure they are really fixing the issue - afraid this might be a sign of more serious issues to come.

I'd love to get some more insight on this and see what everyone thinks I should do. Should I trust the dealer and just let them replace the cylinder head - go on with my busniness, or should I be more concerned?

I'd go with the dealer on this one. GM has seen some casting issues around the perimeter head bolts. They leak coolant around the bolt. Have them do the fix, and drive the piss out of it.

Thanks for the input. I saw a bulletin about some other GMs with the 6.2 (2014-2016 models) that mentioned some leaking. Didn't call out my truck but I assumed it would bode for mine. The dealer said that this is only the second time that they have seen this issue, which is part of my concern. Hopefully things go right and I don't see any long term effects from this problem.

My friend had the same issue as you.. Most of them leak. The dealer will ALWAYS tell you they've never seen this before, or only a couple times. Don't be duped!
