Any way to stop clear coat deterioration?

It looks as though the clear coat on the top of my cab is starting to deteriorate. I have a 1989 GMC Sierra stepside, it's the original paint but if there's any way to "fix" it short of repainting it I could use some suggestions. Don't know the name of the color but here's a picture....

Thanks

is it missing clear coat in some spots? You could try and spray some clear coat on it they do sell clear coat in a can. I have used it successfully on a rim and on my side mirrors

Actually, it almost looks like water spots, kind of a hazing effect, and there seems to be more of them all the time. I could take a digital picture if that would help.

it sounds like sun damage which is common when the area isn't properly protected with wax. if its beyond oxidation then cleaner waxes, and compounds probly wont help but are worth a try.... in my experience what a shop will do is wet sand the clear coat, and re clear it and blend it in, you can try aerosol clear , but you will have to try and lightly sand down the affected areas (not taking any paint off) and spray lightly... keep in mind that the original finish on your truck is base coat clear coat where the aerosol can is usually only laquer, so durabiliy will be less.

Some guys on the detail city forum have had the same problem. I believe they used a random orbital polisher with a yellow cut pad and some light to medium cut polish. If I am not mistaken they got most of the spots out. Get an account over there and post some pictures. You'll get the right answers. :(
