Good Day, hopefully your trucks are cleaner than mine. I am just looking for some information on the Optima Battery Line. If anybody has feedback please let me know.

well what are you looking for in a battery. the yellow top would be for your truck that has a system that takes a lot of juice or different lights that need extra juice. you have your red top battery which would be for your general truck nothin to special about them. They are very good battery's from what i have heard. They can take a chunk out of your wallet though.

I would be looking for the yellow top. I have added a "few" lights to my truck and even though they do not take much for power (maybe a couple watts) i will be adding more in the future about 15 amps. also plans for a better sound system would be nice. if they get XM up here in Canada that will be the next step. THanks

I've had a red-top Optima for a couple of years and have been very pleased with it...so much so that, when I bought my Sierra I took the battery out of my ZR2 and put it in the 'new' truck.

 

My guess is that you'd be very satisfied with the yellow-top. Good luck!

We use them on our Jet Fuel Starter test stands here in the Air Force. I was surprises that they are in our supply system. We hook two up for 24 volts to use to power the spark ignition system on the Jet fuel starter. They have been on the stand for over a year and lasted longer than any other battery. I would say that they are more than what one would need and the Yellow should do very well. There is no problems with spilling because they are sealed from what I can tell and have read.

 

I would say if you can afford it then get one.

I have never used one personally but I have some friends who swear by them and I have never heard of any bad reviews. When my batt decides to die I was thinking of replacing with the red top!

I have had one since they came out 10 years ago. I can't remember how many vehicles I have put it in.

I have a red top and yellow top 34/78 work very well and its nice having side and top posts

I have had the red top Optima in my 91 S-10 since 1999, and it is still going strong. Not maintenance, no fuss.

The red top is a regular duty cycle, the yellow top is a deep cycle. If you regularly run the battery flat or nearly flat, or run the risk of doing so, then you would want a deep cycle battery (the yellow top). If not then the red top will be fine for you (and give you better performance AND a cheaper price). Running a red top flat and recharging it will only work for about 10 cycles, a yellow top will last more than a hundred.

I run a yellow top in my Jeep (because I have a winch, which I use quite a lot offroad).

Both will give you the benefit of Optima's spiral cell gel technology - spill proof, and vibration resistant.

Last Friday I lost the battery in my 96 Bonnie........ I was thinking about going to a optima battery but opted not to due to the fact that it's a car......

 

However on my truck i'm starting to think that they are well worth the money.

 

What is the going price on a optima battery for our truck? Are the optima batteries rated like all other batteries? (In Cold Cranking Amps)

they are made buy Johnson controls, the same company that makes the Diehard. Diehards have a 100 month warranty so i think i just stick with them and save a few bones.

I can only speak for the one I bought for my Z71. It's a redtop and I run a high powered mp3 player, cellphone, spotlight and a plug-in cooler that draws a constant 4 amps. I have let most of this run for 24 hours and it will still crank my 350. I have never had a battery to do this. It also will take a rapid charge. I put my 6 amp charger on it and it was fully charged in 2 hours. In my opinion the Optima is the best battery on the market. I wanted the yellow top but no one here had one in stock. I need a battery right then. I got the red top and am more than happy. I guess the moral of the story is you get what you pay for. By the way the Red Top has a full 3 year replacement then a 3 year pro-rate.

i was going to go that route when my original battery crapped out but went with a regular 78DT because of $$
