Anyone from North Carolina?

Is anyone from the north carolina area?  Anyone ever been there?  

 

My aunt and uncle recently moved there (well they dont have a house yet) and me and my gf are planning a middle of July trip down there.  Main reason is white water rafting.  

 

Anything else i should plan on doing?

You'll be fairly close to the Smokey Mountains.  I've been there several times, and it's always nice.

It is really nice in that area.  Should be much cooler there than it is here in July.

Definatly a ride on the Blue Ridge Parkway.  I think Grandfathers mtn is around Ashville somewhere.  the highest point on the parkway is close to Ashville too...  It's aboove the tree line...  over 5000 ft.

Could always do the tour of the Biltmore Estates.  Grandfather Mountains and the Blue Ridge Pkwy is in the area too.

i lived there most of my life...it ok, mountins are your best bet, but there may be a redneck there.  chapel hill is the most boring town ever, im glad im out of there

I'm about an hour from Ashevile. Try the Nantahala river for rafting. The Blue Ridge Parkway is a scenic ride. The highest peak east of the Mississippi is there Shaners, it is Mt. Mitchell.

The Biltmore House is worth seeing. It is the largest residence in the US

I live in Charlotte but I spent a few days on the Blue Ridge Parkway last year and might do that again this year. It's a good place to go if you just want to get away from everything and see some nice scenery. I grew up in the country in south Georgia so I have to get away from all the big-city crap every now and then and this is a good place to do it.

Cant wait till july.  Sounds like a nice trip.  Probably stay for 4-7 days
